Many people don't have it. They always use words to convince someone in whatever motive they have but failed to keep it. As if it is a natural thing to do. We always hear action speaks louder than words, does it mean we should look at the action and ignore the words? For me, words from people especially from the people I trust the most don't have meaning no more. Maybe because I've experienced a lot of disappointments from them that make me conclude that words nowadays have no meaning at all.
Word of Honor is a solemn promise to someone but most people don't know or maybe they really know it but they don't practice it. This is the promise that one will do something which is real and true. It is a promise to be fulfilled. If we believe in someone else's promise in today's world then, we will just hurt ourselves from disappointments because no one will ever treat us good. Only one I know can give this word of honor and who won't disappoint us. That's God whom I truly tust of my everything.
WHY PEOPLE CAN'T KEEP THEIR PROMISE?
I grew up with parents who didn't have chance to teach me about life. As I enter adulthood I mostly learned how to do good deeds by my own study of the Bible. It is within me, the natural act of keeping my words whenever I say a promise to someoene else. So, it is very painful for me to experience the opposite of what I expect from people. I used to say that a man without a word is nothing. I don't break a promise, I don't easily change my mind, in fact, I'm ready to die for it. One of my friends said "Only a fool doesn't change mind". So, I answered "I'm a fool then, If that makes me a fool, I better be a fool all the time just to fulfill my words". One thing for sure, no one can influence me to change my mind. For me, if you keep your promise you are showing your character of being a trustworthy person and that matters most.
Here are my list of 3 reasons of why people can't keep promise:
People can't keep their promise because of some distractions and temptations. People that surround them convince them to change their minds. They are the people who I can say are weak, easily be convinced by others.
People can't keep their promise because they are liars. It is in their character as a liar. Before they make promises, they already knew that they can't keep it but still pursuing to make you believe with their lies. They make you believe that they are trustworthy but the truth they are not.
People can't keep their promise simply because they can't. It is beyond their control. Some people died with a broken promises and did not have a chance to fulfill those promises because of a sudden death. Also because of accidents that lead to thier disability and loss of memory.
HOW TO STOP BREAKING A PROMISE?
When you have that kind of character of trustworthiness in your mind and heart, it is not a hard task for you to do it. But, when it is easy for you to break a promise then here I present to you some ways to stop it.
*Do not make a promise
*Do not say a word
*Shut your mouth
*Refuse to listen to someone else's secret when you know you can't keep her secret
*Do not make promises at all
Well, I think the first and last are the same or maybe all? My point is, think before you speak.
Is it hard for you not to make promises? Yes or no? If yes, Is it because you wanna make your loved ones happy with those promises? If so, that's not a good reason because you will just break their hearts with disappointments.
HOW I MANAGED TO KEEP MY WORDS?
First, I simply do it. When I say I will do something, I will do it. No matter what happens even it will cause me in trouble, I will still do it.
Second, whenever I released a promise but I need to change plans that can cause to break it, I'm goin to contact those persons whom I said my words so I won't make them wait and I won't give hope because I can't make it. For instance, a cancellation or delayed.
Third, I don't say yes or release a statement when I'm not sure I can keep it.
Last but not the least, I do break a promise once in awhile intentionally to those persons who always break promises to teach them lessons so they will know how it feels. :)
