Hi,
This is Robelyn. Today, I'm going to share my experience in getting the "permiso de salida" for my baby. Our baby was born last year here in Costa Rica. In their law, we will need to have this exit permit when we need to travel out of the country with our baby. Our baby needs this permit before the immigration will allow us to take our baby with us. So, here are the steps in getting this permit. Steps In Getting Exit Permit
First, gather all the requirements before going to the Immigration office in San Jose. The documents they needed are the following:
1. Passports (mother, father and the baby) 2. Original Birth Certificate of the baby 3. A xerox copy of the first page of each passport 4. 2 two passport size photo of the baby Second, you may go to the Immigration office in La Uruca. When you enter the gate there are two guards at the entrance to check your belongings. At the first window beside the entrance is the copier section. Just line up if you need to photo copy your passport, it costs 40 colones each copy. Third, you may go straight at the gate number 9. Just keep walking on the right side until you reach the end of the hall way. Fourth, in the said window gate number 9 you may go inside the office to talk to the guy sitting there if he is not busy. Tell him that you are going to apply for exit permit for your baby. He gonna ask you to show your baby's birth certificate so, give all the documents you have including xerox of your passports. Fifth, he will give you a form to fill out to gather information about you as parents. The form is half size of a bond paper. The questions in the form are the following: 1. Father's name, address and passport no. 2. Mother's name, address and passport no. 3. Contact Number 4. Name of the baby 5. Choices to check who will be with the baby once you go out of the country. Mother, Father, Both Mother and Father, Either Mother or Father. 6. Signatures of both parents Sixth, when you submit the form to the guy he gonna encode the info in his computer and print out a paper for you to sign in. Seventh, once you are done signing you gonna receive the Permiso de Salida at no cost. That's all for today, thank you for your time reading. See you next time! Back to "Costa Rica" Page
