Step by Step Instructions
Hi,
Today I'm going to share with you how to travel to Surigao City. This city is my hometown, as I promised, I would write more about my place because there's a lot to visit here so, you will have an idea how to stay here longer without worrying what to do. Below is the step by step instructions to follow: In order to come to Surigao City, you have choices which transportation you wanna take. We have here either bus, ship, or plane. *For the bus trip, you may take Philtranco from Manila either Cubao terminal or Pasay Terminal. It may take you 3 days and 2 nights. If you travel through this, you are allowed to bring 2 small carry on bags you can put on top compartment and under your chair. If you have heavy luggage you can pay for it for P15 pesos per kilogram with free 20 kilograms. For instance, your luggage is 90 kilograms so, they will deduct 20 kilograms from 90 and they will just compute the remaining kilograms by multiplying 15 pesos to it. 90 - 20 = 70 then, 70 x 15 pesos = 1,050. Therefore, you will pay P1,050 for your luggage of 90 kilograms. For booking, you can visit the terminal ahead of time to get your ticket or one day before your departure. It can cost you more than a thousand pesos. It will not exceed to two thousand pesos. This is the cheapest way but many said tiring trip because you will sit all the way for two days or more. I never experienced this trip going to my hometown but I always get tickets for my siblings whenever they visit me in Manila that's why I know how to get tickets and compute luggage fee. In addition, I already experienced taking Philtranco when I went to Boracay that took me one day from Manila and I can say really tiring, they are right. But if you enjoy seeing places maybe this is good for you. *For the ship, we don't have direct to Surigao unlike before through Super Ferry. You may now book your ticket here formerly Superferry going to either Cebu or Butuan. When booking your ticket online, do not forget to print out a copy of your receipt because you will need it when you visit their office at the pier during your departure before checking-in to print the ticket out. Then, when you reach Butuan, you gonna take a multicab from Maasin going to the bus terminal in Butuan City and take Bachelor bus going to Surigao. (Take note: the trip is from Manila to Maasin) The days of travel will take 2 days and 3 nights from Manila to Surigao depends of the Cargo they have to offload in Cebu if you got Butuan(Maasin) trip and another 2-3 hours by bus from Butuan to Surigao. From Cebu on the other hand, you may take another ship going to Surigao through Cokaliong ship. You can't book online in Cokaliong but you can check the schedule and rate here so, when you book at the pier office in Cebu you already have an idea what ship, date and time you gonna tell to the staff when getting your ticket. The days of travel will take one day from Manila to Cebu and another night from Cebu to Surigao. *For the plane, there are two airlines traveling to my hometown. The Cebupacific which flights via cebu because they don't have direct flight to Surigao and the other airline is a direct flight from Philipine Airlines. If you wanna choose Cebupacific, you can save a little from this flight if you will book your ticket months ahead of your visitation or you got the promo seat through their site here. You can save more if you won't include meal and seat option, just the ticket itself under carry-on bag only. But if you have luggage better include fee in the ticket because if you forgot that you have luggage you need to pay at the airport, it will be costly on your part because they charge P200 per kilogram at the check-in counter. You don't need to check-in again at Cebu airport, just go directly to the gate assigned to your ticket. They will give you two tickets during your departure in Manila. There flight is always delayed so, expect more hours of lay over in Cebu. If ever you want Philippine Airlines, this is fix fee sometimes they have promo but I never experienced promo in this airlines but this is best if you wanna save time. The ticket will include all fees from tax, ticket and luggage of 20kg plus hand carry of 7kg and a small snack, you don't have choices unlike in Cebupacific but rest assured that you won't have any problem at the airport since it is a direct flight that takes only an hour and 45 mins. To check promos and book your ticket, you may visit the website here. If ever you missed your flight, you can go directly to their office at the airport to rebook it just pay penalty fee of P2000 plus. While in Cebupacific, if u missed the flight they won't refund it yes they will re-book it but the cost is higher than the new ticket so better buy new ticket than re-booking. Lastly, the flights are only once a day so, better not to miss your flight or you will end up checking in a hotel nearby the airport for the next flight for the next day. How to go to Philtranco Pasay from NAIA?
From NAIA 1, 2 or 3 just take white metered taxi and tell the driver Philtranco in Pasay. The landmark is the MRT. If you wanna take the shuttle bus outside the airport which is P20 only just tell the collector you will drop off at MRT. From mrt, you can walk a little further through EDSA road going north until you reach JOLLIBEE on the right side of it is the PHILTRANCO.
That's all for today, I hope this hub will be helpful for your next trip. I also wish that you enjoy your vacation. My next hub is about getting a visa extension in my hometown. Hi ma’am! Your blog is very helpful for me, since i don’t have any idea going to surigao. But I have question. If I choose to travel via philtranco, is there additional ride for me to takejust to arrive in surigao? Or is it Philtranco or bus only? Thank you😊
